LOCAL BAND: QUITO, ECUADOR: MOTOZEN

I live in Ecuador and like many great cities around the world there is an Underground/Indie/Alternative scene. First up is a band from the city of Quito. They are Motozen. An indie band as they coined themselves. This band formed in September of 2007. The band started off as a trio first starting first with Alejandro Tobar on drums, Alejandro Naranjo on guitar and Raul Arias on bass. the trio started off playing instrumentals and started auditioning for vocalists and finally settled with Igancio Izquierdo. They started practicing in a small rented basement and the sounds they produced was a sound reminiscent of the (0's indie bands like Joy Division, Gang of Four, New Order, the Smiths and newer bands like Interpol, Arcade Fire, Cansei de ser Sexy, and Editors. Began playing the local scene throughout Quito. Raul left the band in 2008 and was replaced by Luis Cisneros. The band are up and running and are again playing the local scene and will have future dates in and around the cities of Ecuador.
