Today In Alternative Music History: April 3, 1980
On this date in 1980, Blondie released their sixteenth single, "Call Me". It was backed by an instrumental version of the A side. Neither track appeared on a regular album. The A side appeared on the American Gigolo movie soundtrack. It was added to their fifth album, Autoamerican, on a later CD re-release. The single reached the #1 spot on the U.K. and U.S. singles charts. The New York City punk/new wave band broke up in 1982 only to re-form 16 years later.
