I just recently finished reading an incredible book. Creation Stories: Riots, Raves and Running A Label by Alan McGee. He is the founder of Creation Records and his role in shaping British musical culture is hard to deny. He became an infamous character in the world of music. McGee takes the reader behind the scenes of his record label. He founded Creation Records when he was 23 years old. Alan provoked riots with The Jesus and Mary Chain, was almost bankrupted by My Bloody Valentine and kept the faith with Primal Scream. He oversaw Oasis' rise to become one of the biggest bands in the world and became the figureheads of Britpop itself. He explains why he closed down Creation Records, explains what it was like to manage The Libertines and why he returned with a new indie label 359 Music in 2013. This is a honest and hilarious account by this true legend. If you get a chance buy a copy, you will not regret it.
